Former player Alin Stoica (42 years old) launched a new series of accusations against the former impresario Giovanni Becali (69 years old).
Alin Stoica, the son of the giant Tudorel Stoica (67 years old), does not forgive Ioan Becali even today. He blames the former manager for missing a transfer to Manchester City.
Alin Stoica signed at the age of 16 and a half with Anderlecht, a club with which he won two titles.
Attack on Giovanni Becali
It has never been easy for me to follow in my father’s footsteps. In Romania I was constantly compared to him when I was a teenager. If I stayed there, I would be gone. Fortunately, Anderlecht discovered me when I was 16 and I was able to grow up in Brussels.
I took part in the glory days, when I won trophies, and in the 2000 Champions League campaign I scored against Real Madrid, Lazio, Leeds and Dinamo Kyiv. Anderlecht was my home.
I was young. I thought that football was played only on the field, but it was also played in offices. Before a match with Westerlo, Anderlecht’s coach came to me and said, “Alin, how do we deal with your manager?” I thought everything would be fine, but my manager was making the books. He was the bastard.
Many clubs were interested in me. PSV and Marseille insisted. I could have gone to Manchester City. Kevin Keegan, the coach at the time, wanted me there. One day, the manager called me and told me we were going to Manchester to sign, but in the evening he canceled the meeting. Apparently, conditions had changed.
Later, I heard through an intermediary that he asked each club for a higher commission than my salary, but also an additional commission for his brother. He was a mobster who treated me like a piece of meat in a butcher’s shop, “said Alin Stoica in an interview with the Belgians at Het Nieuwsblad.
Alin Stoica was a great hope of Romanian football
Alin Stoica has played for Steaua, Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Siena, FC Național, Poli Timișoara, Gent, Mouscron, FC Brașov, Vojvodina and Wetteren throughout his career.
For the Romanian national team, Stoica played in 13 matches.
Alin Stoica also criticized the former Romanian coach, Ladislau Boloni: “In 2000, Boloni was Romania’s coach and, to my surprise, he barely called me. I scored in the Champions League with Anderlecht, and he called up players from small teams in Romania. Why? Is it because, according to him, I can’t stand the comparison like my father? ”Stoica added.
In 1997, Anderlecht paid 1.2 million euros for the transfer of Alin Stoica from Steaua.
